Experimental Investigation of a Standalone Wind Energy System with a Battery-Assisted Quasi-Z-Source Inverter

This paper presents a wind energy conversion system (WECS) for grid-isolated areas. The includes squirrel-cage induction generator (SCIG) and battery-assisted quasi-Z source inverter (qZSI). batteries ensure reliable stable operation of the WECS in spite power oscillations. maximum is captured from both turbine (WT) SCIG through adjustment WT speed operating flux, respectively. utilized point tracking (MPPT) algorithms belong to group fuzzy logic (FL) search-based algorithms. battery state charge (SOC) tracked online controlled. When it reaches minimum allowed level, load automatically disconnected; conversely, when charging stopped via control. voltage root-mean-square (RMS) value frequency are at all times controlled grid-level values. performance proposed was experimentally validated, steady during transients, achieving wide ranges speed, power, SOC, alternating current/direct current (AC/DC) levels. startup low-wind were also analyzed. control executed real time by means DS1103 MicroLabBox controller boards (dSpace).
